Thursday, October 26th at 7 p.m.
This beautiful collection of handwritten
letters offers strength, encouragement, and comfort to women living with breast
cancer. Written by compassionate strangers—many of whom have gone through their
own health battles—these heartfelt letters were gathered by Girls Love Mail, an
organization that provides support to people diagnosed with breast cancer as
seen on NBC Nightly News. Presented in an elegant package with metallic end papers, and a ribbon marker, and brimming with warm messages of empathy,
inspiration, and humor, Dear Friend delivers words of wisdom when
they're needed the most.
About
the Charity:
Girls Love Mail, the national charity
featured on The NBC Nightly News, The Steve Harvey Show, People.com, and
Today.com gives the gift of hand-written letters to women going through breast
cancer treatment. Since August 2011, they’ve handed out over 100,000 letters –
that’s 100,000 women helped by a kindness anyone can do. People across the
country send in their hand-written notes to Girls Love Mail based in
Sacramento, and then the organization gets them out through 160 hospital cancer
centers across the country.
Book Talk & Letter Writing
Founder Gina L. Mulligan will give
20-minute talk about the charity and the lives they’ve touched. If available,
local letter contributors will read their letters. Then the focus shifts to
writing letters with the review of guidelines, tips, and samples. For the next
30-40 minutes, attendees will write their own letters, share their letters, and
experience. The event is meant to be interactive and inspiring
Girls Love Mail will supply all stationary,
pens, and materials. The charity will also bring clip boards for writing.
After her own diagnosis, Gina founded GIRLS LOVE MAIL, a charity that collects handwritten letters of encouragement for women newly diagnosed with breast cancer. She has been featured on local and national media including the NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt, The Steve Harvey Show, Woman’s Day magazine, Today.com, and People.com.
This event is FREE and everyone is invited.
