Sacramento Living Library Sunday, 10/17: Richard Simpson

Time Tested Books and Midtown Monthly are excited to announce the October event in our Sacramento Living Library series: a very special one-night-only screening of Sacramento filmmaker Richard Simpson's 'Marshes of 2 Street' (1966), followed by a discussion and Q&A with Simpson himself. Not to be missed!

In 1966, as wrecking balls destroyed much of Sacramento's historic downtown to make way for I-5, Richard Simpson took his camera to 2nd Street to document the end of an era. The result is 'Marshes of 2 Street', one extraordinary half-hour that captures life in Sacramento's West End waterfront district before it was "Old Sacramento"--a film rarely seen and even more rarely shown! Join us for this unique opportunity to see film and filmmaker together at dusk inside Midtown's favorite bookstore....

The event starts at 7:00pm on Sunday, October 17th, and admission is free.

Time Tested Books is located at 1114 21st Street in Midtown Sacramento.

Upcoming in the 2010 Sacramento Living Library:

November 21st - Jeffrey Callison with David Watts Barton
Capital Public Radio's Jeffrey Callison, host of KXJZ's popular 'Insight' program, takes the interviewee's seat for a change.

December 5th - Ginger Elizabeth Hahn
The world-renowned Midtown chocolatier, who graduated top of her class at the Culinary Institute of America, talks about the magic and the miracle of chocolate.

Richard Simpson's film 'Marshes of Two Street' is brilliant. It was an absolute joy and delight to see this hidden gem that has been tucked away in Sacramento's archives. Packed House w/ a great Q & A time. Thank you Richard and thank you Time Tested Books for hosting this wonderful event.

I missed this unique event and film. Is there any chance it can be repeated? As a history buff, this is really something I have to see!
Or else, how can I contact the film maker?
