Emmanuel Sigauke grew up in Zimbabwe where the writing bug seized him around age thirteen. He has attempted different genres and has published poetry and short fiction. He resides in Sacramento, California, where he teaches English at a Cosumnes River College. He is the founding editor of Munyori Literary Journal and is involved in organizations such as the Sacramento Poetry Center and Writers International Network Zimbabwe, and others. He has co-edited African Roar, an annual anthology of short fiction by African writers, a continent-wide initiative.
 
 
Shawn Aveningo
Shawn Aveningo is a multi award-winning poet. Her work has appeared in numerous publications such as Poetry Now, Survivor’s Review, Pirene’s Fountain, Convergence, POETZ, WTF, The Ophidian, SN&R, Savage Melodies & Last Call Serenades, Wait a Minute, I Have to Take Off My Bra (International Anthology for Breast Cancer Research). She has authored 5 book, hosts a monthly poetry show in Folsom and has been a featured poet in Sacramento, San Francisco, Sausalito, Grass Valley, Seattle and St Louis. In 2009, she was voted Best Female Poet by the Sacramento News & Review Reader Poll.
Dafina Everhart



Dafina Everhart will read in the emerging artist category. Originally from the city of San Jose, she lends a quiet passion to this event. Her poetic influences are Sarah McKay, Marshall Davis and Rudy Francisco. She has performed at Mahogany’s and at Luna’s.

This event will be hosted by Phillip Larrea.
